Bruce MacLeish Dern (born Winnetka, Illinois, June 4, 1936) is an American actor. He is the father of actress Laura Dern and was formerly married to actress Diane Ladd.
He is typically think of the gifted actor world health organization hwhen suffered from either typecasting imputable with experienced a series of roles as "psycho" characters early inside his film career. Yet, within his 60s, he continues to become the desired performing artist.
Probably his right-known role wwhen as a only spaceman inside Silent Running. He was nominated for the Better Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the multi-Oscar-winning Coming Home with Jane Fonda. He was too nominated for a better actor prize at the Berlin Film Festival for "That Championship Season."
His granddad was George Dern, former Governor of Utah and Secretary of War under Franklin D. Roosevelt. He is too a nephew of poet Archibald MacLeish.
